ARTICLE XV: CHRISTIAN LIVING AND SANCTIFICATION

We believe that all believers are called to live holy lives, set apart for God’s purposes. Sanctification is both a divine work of the Holy Spirit and a human responsibility involving the pursuit of holiness through spiritual disciplines, obedience to God’s Word, and fellowship with other believers. Christians should abstain from all forms of sin and engage in practices that promote spiritual growth, including prayer, Bible study, worship, fellowship, and service. Believers are called to be salt and light in the world, influencing society for righteousness and justice (1 Thessalonians 4:3-7; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Romans 12:1-2; Matthew 5:13-16).

We affirm: Progressive sanctification and the believer’s responsibility to pursue holiness.
We deny: That believers can achieve sinless perfection in this life or that good works contribute to salvation.
